About the role

We are excited to share that we are recruiting for an ambitious and hard-working Assistant Buyer to join our dynamic Licensing team within clothing and home (F&F) here at Tesco. Tesco is a leading multinational retailer and License is a key strategic pillar for us. Alongside the Licensing Manager, you will be responsible for implementing a new strategy to deliver license growth across home and clothing. 

Working across UK, ROI and CE markets this role has the opportunity to work with product, customer and channel teams as well as key global Licensors and market leading Licensees supporting great business exposure to explore future career options.

This role would suit someone who is already an established Assistant Buyer looking for a new challenge.

You will be responsible for

  • Engaging with key licensors and studios to build market leading license slate.
  • Working with key licensee partners to develop market leading ranges that will deliver global license strategy.
  • Working cross category with Clothing, Home and Food teams to implement large-scale instore license activations; develop product and create moments that will surprise and delight the customer as well as build an additional revenue channel for Tesco.
  • Managing high profile internal and external relationships.
  • Identifying new licence/product opportunities and understanding how to work through the different stages of product development from concept to production in order to to bring new products to the ranges.
  • Understanding and supporting the license strategy.
  • Providing support to keep the function running smoothly.
  • Preparing information, product or analysis (including Monday trade).
  • Conducting regular store/website visits to understand our competition ranges and prices and to help shape our future product and range requirements.
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence.

You will need

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Clothing or home retail experience.
  • Product development and sourcing experience.
  • Range building skills.
  • Report preparation and analysis skills.
  • Data analysis and numeracy skills.
  • MS Office.
