About the role

This role requires you to be in the office 3 days a week either from:

London Farringdon Office or Welwyn Garden City Head Office.

Due to expansion, the Identity Team in the Customer APIs are looking to bring in an experienced Product Manager to work on the back end product of Identity management for Tesco which spans a world of APIs, Cloud/ enterprise architecture, vendor integrations and big data to name a few.

The Customer Identity domain is all about how we authenticate and open up ’the front door’ into the full range of Tesco services/ enable value adding capabilities across a wide range of Product Areas and our ‘Retail Platform’ at Tesco. That could include managing anything from a new microservice that securely stores customer credentials to a public cloud migration project.

You will have the opportunity to drive Product Management in a scrum team of 8 Engineers, with is part of 5 teams across our wider product.

With an appreciation for enterprise API's/backend, you will be someone who can collaborate with our engineering teams to lead on strategy and develop the roadmap with a particular focus on our more technical outcomes and help drive our Identity API which is responsible for billions of authentications each week. 

You will be responsible for


  • Collaborating with a team of developers to deliver value 
  • Leading the development plans: shaping the overall strategy, defining and prioritising business requirements and working with the different business units to ensure their plans are integrated
  • Work with other Product Managers, architects and the development team to deliver the roadmap using agile methodologies: prioritising requirements, answering development questions and resolving issues, always putting the customer first.

You will need

  • Strong technical skills working predominately with APIs and Cloud Services
  • Breadth of Product management skills spanning product delivery and mid to long term strategic planning (product strategy, roadmaps)
  • Strong prioritisation and 'value/ benefits' focus to drive the right work to be done 
  • ability to work effectively cross functionally/ laterally with other Technology teams and stakeholders
  • Strong and creative problem solving skills

  • Adaptive, 'desire to learn' and growth mindset

Nice to have:

  • Business analysis skills to help understand an 'as is' and 'to be' environment, within a technical/ back end product
  • Familiarity with OKRs frameworks
