About the role

Within this role you will be accountable for scoping & supporting the delivery of complex, large - scale projects with support of internal and external subject matter experts to construct new distribution facilities.

You will be responsible for

  • Ensuring full compliance with CDM and H&S regulations across my program of work.
  • Coordination and management of internal and external stakeholders including Cost Managers, Services Engineers, Architects, Project Managers
  • Assisting with procurement of external consultants and contractors.  
  • Assisting with developing procurement strategies for complex projects.
  • Management of project budget and expenditure throughout the lifecycle of a project.
  • Preparing papers for cost submission approval or supporting other workstreams where required.
  • Development of the design standards that meet the Tesco requirements whilst being fit-for future purposes.
  • Application of design standards and operational requirements into the design of new distribution facilities.
  • Leading project meetings inclusive of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Change management throughout project life cycle.
  • Administration of construction contracts with support form external legal advisors.
  • Leading the handover from construction projects to maintenance and operations teams.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders such as landlords & developers to monitoring base build works and ensure compliance with any legal documentation.
  • Working with engineering & maintenance teams to develop standards & identify trends and design improvements.
  • Ensuring compliance with planning and building regulations

You will need

  • Demonstrable experience of working in large scale construction projects, preferably in distribution & logistics sector.
  • Chartered with RICS or CIOB, or with a minimum of 3 years experience and working towards becoming a chartered member.
  • Experience of pre-construction design processes.
  • Good understanding of construction technology.
  • Experience of managing project programmes.
  • Good contract, financial and cost management skills.
  • Ability to communicate with people of all levels.
  • Degree or equivalent level qualification in Project Management, Construction Management, Building Surveying or Engineering.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Good understanding of H&S regulations.
  • Good understanding of construction contracts.
  • Commercial awareness of wider industry challenges.
