I joined the Tesco Property Graduate scheme, working in the Development Space team for Metro stores. Once signed off the programme I undertook my first line manager role as Merchandising Manager, responsible for tailoring the range and the Space Range and Display proposition for Metro customers and stores. Following that I was the Lead Display Manager for Fresh foods, looking after all of our planograms and range change events for large stores.

Wanting to do something completely different, I had the opportunity to move roles and I became a mushrooms and avocados buyer. That was amazing: it was almost as though I’d moved companies (I had no idea what I was doing when I started!). It was a very steep learning curve but also amazing fun. My proudest moment was differentiating the category to make it more interesting to customers by introducing a new mushroom range that had vitamin D within it: the British public is quite vitamin D deficient, as we don’t get enough sun!

In 2016 I came back to Space Range and Display to head up the Space and Operations team. Here I look after all of the development stores on the programme, the re-purpose work in stores, range change schedules and communications and capabilities to stores.

Since joining Tesco I’ve always been involved with and currently co-chair the Women in Tesco network. The diversity and inclusion networks have helped me to meet and build relationships with people from across the business.

There are so many varied benefits to working at Tesco, from Smarter Working in the office through to sample sales which raise lots of money for charity. The benefit that I use most often is the 10% staff discount which is really helpful and I’m also a big fan of the colleague deals with Tesco mobile!
